Bad RAM. I've had it happen with numerous computers, which is why I paid more for the 8 GB of RAM from Apple, given they can test it prior to shipping. My memory from Apple is Samsung, which I have used a lot without issue. I don't know much about Corsair's memory, so I cannot say anything regarding their product, but I have always used Crucial with good results, and it is a favorite here.
That's for the advice! I may try Crucial or OWC which looks like they guarantee Apple compatibility. I guess the Corsair's should work fine in a standard laptop.

Searching for a used MacBook with CS5 MS already installed (they are out there, but I semi question the legitimacy of some as they have no media included, just preinstalled), and I am starting to also question on whether finding one with CS5 is really important if my main purpose is to learn Xcode, write iPad apps, and teach my oldest girl how to do the same. For those of you with CS5, how useful is it for App creation? What other applications should I be looking at with those goals? I have found I can get a decent 2.4ghz dual core with 4GB ram plus HD for around $400 (without CS5). Thanks!
You don't need the Master Suite at all. There might be an argument for getting Photoshop and Illustrator but anything else is a complete waste of time.
Having said that if you ever plan on branching out into web development the Master Suite becomes more useful (although personally I'd go with Web Premium in that case).

usb doesn't carry 5.1
If the headset itself only uses usb, that must mean it has a dolby processor that connects to it that utilizes either hdmi or optical to get surround sound. You have to buy a toslink adapter for the optical cable to get it to hook up to the dolby headphones processor. If you'e on a mac pro and its audio card has built in fiber optic port, then use that. Then again if the audio card in the computer already has an optical out, it already probably does dolby headphone.

OF course you do - need to repurchase. Do you really expect Apple to give away higher resolution content to those that already have the 320x versions?
If so, you need a reality check. Really.
You have posed a question and not provided an answer, merely a remark questioning my understanding of reality.
I provided a response to a member's question - do you need to repurchase? The answer is, for me at least, yes. I suggested, perhaps too forcefully, that I did not appreciate this requirement.
This is a very 'real' issue. If broadband uptake and speeds continue to rise, and consumer acceptance of digital media increases, than higher quality content will be more readily demanded and easier to supply. However, if quality enhancements are too quick, and a consumer must repurchase his or her entire collection (or favourite parts of) too regularly than disatisfaction is felt. It is felt in the frustration of having to spend more time and money re-downloading something that a consumer perceives he or she already owns.
How can Apple avoid this. One is communication of value. The problem with this approach is that it is very subjective - a consumer could heavily discount the quality enhancement when compared to the additional time and money spent. In other words, a consumer values his or her time and money more than the quality. Another is discounting; that is, offering discounts to those customers who already own the pre iTunes 7.0 versions. This is still subjective, but offers a consumer something tangible (dollars saved).

I have a Mac+ still and there is no way I would sell it. I have sold a Mac IIvx and a G4 Quick Sliver but that was for Money to buy the next Mac (currently a G5 iMac). I gave my Rev-A iMac to a girl I dating at the time.... but I think that was because of her WoW factor.

Isn't this illegal? I mean they probably need to hack into Apple's database to add the IMEIs in question, which is pretty illegal.

I second setting up a local DNS, you could use BIND on an existing mac or recycle an old PC and install BIND on linux, use os x server, etc.
Other things to consider, if your hosts are obtaining IP addresses via DHCP you'll have to configure your DHCP server to assign the local DNS server IP address, right now it's probably assigning the IP address of your router/gateway you'll also need to set the search domain for your hosts so you don't have to type full domain names everytime.
If hosts have static IPs don't forget to manually set the DNS server IP and search domain.
On your DNS server, just set the forwarder IP address to what the DNS IPs are in your current router configuration, your ISPs DNS or you could just use OpenDNS servers which is what I usually do if I set up a local DNS server.
Did a quick search on the web and found this: http://www.macshadows.com/kb/index.php?title=How_To:_Enable_BIND_-_Mac_OS_X's_Built-in_DNS_Server ... could be useful. If you browse around enough you could find a way to do it on an existing Mac w/o installing server OS.

It's funny to hear people complain about their 3GS is on their last leg, etc.
My wife still has the original Iphone (not even 3G), while I have the Iphone4.
She was waiting on the Iphone4 (White), and continued to wait, and now we're so close to the Iphone5, she's in another dilemma.
Buy the Iphone 4 (White), or hope that the 2G Iphone makes it to the release of the Iphone 5?
I think I'm going to get her the Iphone 4 (dramatic improvement over the 2g, obviously). Then we will worry about getting her the latest phone at that time (since no one knows when it's arriving).
Either way, my wife is still rocking the original Iphone, and belive me 3GS owners, your phone is worlds ahead of hers.

I have to say that my loyalty to Apple dropped a bit. Mac Pro really tested my patience and the update was definately worth it but why in the hell did they not update ACDs to go with it? I really hope they will do silent update this week so I can buy my MP+ACD and forget Apple for few months (until I have money for a notebook) :)
Second, I want to get an ACD but they are to thick, and a little pricy. I am surprised that the ACDs are about the thickness of an imac.
Check out their new 30" display.
<snip>
that sounds cool and all on paper, but its still a dell. And in my experience with dell...
Apple will release newly designed ACD's along with the newly designed Mac Pro, and since they just released a Mac Pro, I wouldn't think it would be released for maybe another 7 months to a year.
Don't hold your breath. The current ACD's are amazing.
True but he has a point...
More inputs! I'd love to have an ACD hooked up to an :apple:tv in my living room, and one hooked up to a Wii in my bedroom, etc. At the moment my best option is a 27" Dell... I'd love to have Apple styling instead.
And I would love 4 HDMI ports in the 30".:D
built in isight & ir receiver
& i'm sure folks want faster reaction time better graphics capabilities
& somewhere, someone wants it glossy
I'd much rather have an external isight, the option to have it would be good, and the ability to turn and move it without moving the screen would be cool as well. I would like a wireless isight with one button on the back, the photo button. It'd be like having an eye fi card in your isight.

Hello MacRumors,
I'm very surprised that you had removed(or was it never there?) the breadcrumbs at the bottom of any forum page. I find this very counter intuitive.
By the time the user reach the bottom of a long thread page, I think the most common actions would be to either want to move to a different page of the same thread or to go back to the section page with listings of all the thread titles. In my case, I ALWAYS want to go back to the section page so I can select another thread to view. Currently... there is no breadcrumb at the bottom that I can quickly jump back out of the thread.
There's always the back button on the browser... However, that's practical only if the thread is single page(or I can even stand 2-3 pages, just a few more back clicks, right?). What if I've dwelved a good 10 or so pages into a long thread? Or I'm jumping around a REALLY long thread to try to find something? I would have to scroll all the way up just to find the breadcrumb at the top. Very annoying...
It may seem like a trivial thing and I'm nit picky... but imagine that this repeated annoyance happens nearly every time you view a multi-page thread... I realize that there is the "Forum Jump" menu, but that either requires 2 clicks or you must scroll... Why can't we have both? Jumping else where with "Forum Jump" or simply single click to jump back up a tree.
Also on a side note... your breadcrumb at the top of the forum page is broken in FireFox. The "trigger box" for the "MacRumors Forums" link is a huge box that overlays the next few items in the breadcrumb. Essentially, making the neighboring links useless because it would fire the "MacRumors Forums" link instead.
Please bring back the bottom breadcrumb... It's the most logical place to offer navigational links since the user is most likely done with reading and would like to browse else where.
Please fix the top breadcrumb when viewed in FireFox...
Thanks!
