That sounds pretty minor compared to the US. Might I suggest a visit to LA, Chacago, NYC or large southern city so you can get a sense what goes on here?

In my personal experience, and according to WHO rankings, France has the best healthcare in the world.
Japan is ranked #10 according to the world health organization.
The US is ranked #37 :eek: Most of that has to do with poor access. The wealthy get the best care, arguably in the world. Sucks for the bottom 95% though.

Its developers offer great support and regularly implement needs expressed by their users. For students and other users that are on a tighter budget, Zotero offers a good open-source alternative...
I will definitely check out the trial version of Bookends. The price is a fair deal unlike the case of Endnote. Zotero sounds interesting. I will keep it in mind, in case some student asks me about a free solution. Thank you for the hints.

All beer sucks. That beer has been dressing itself up like wine for the last few decades or so is hysterical. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. I agree with all the "you're a minor and you're in school to learn" etc. but if you take that attitude there are no "rebels" so to say.
The IT person has no right to take the computer away. I went to a high school that offered laptops at a discount price. If you did buy it through the school, in the contract you signed, there is a clause that says that the administration can take those computers away at any time of they "think" you're doing something illegal on it, which IMO is ********.
As for bringing you're own computer, no one at the school has any right to take the computer away. Sure he's a minor, learning at school, but everyone has rights. If it was his own computer, no one at the school has any right to take it away I think.

My iPhone 4 rocks. I feel the need to share my joy since 80% are complaining. Yes I am a fanboy but my iPhone 4 works flawlessly. I can hold it in my left hand, right hand, foot and it still works. I thought maybe it was just my city but I am out and about this week traveling and it works like a charm. Someone needs to tell Steve that I must have his unit.

I could be 100% wrong but didn't Loop Insight quote the source as saying that they weren't stupid and they wouldn't be releasing a new iPhone so soon after the release of the Verizon iPhone?
Don't know about Loop Insight, but this doesn't make sense. The Verizon Phone is still just an iPhone 4 and that technology is nearly a year old now and ready for its yearly update. The VZN phone has no impact on when the next version will be released.
Problems in the supply chain will be the biggest issue...

Expect software announcements at an Apple special event on 30 January (the consumer release date for Vista, as if you didn't know already). There Steve will talk about Leopard's Top Secret features and the new iLife suite, just so that once MS have stopped kicking themselves after the release of the iPhone and the bruises are starting to heal, they can do it all over again. See Zunes and Vista in bargain bins all over the world (I know that Zunes are only on sale in the US at present, but in order to get rid of stock they will be put on sale everywhere without any software support whatsoever).
I have to disagree with your logic on this. It would be a big mistake to release Leopard, or for that matter have any sort of media event about Leopard on or around the time of Vista's launch. They should wait at least a few weeks after Vista's release.

But as far as public attention goes, with the majority market share held by Microsoft, all eyes will be on Vista, as far as media coverage goes. hmm. Dell used to sell top of the line computers. Used to be the quality computer to get. Now they're, um, catching on fire in very select instances and generally kind of cheap feeling. Maybe Apple computers could stand to lose a little bit off the price, but i'm not wanting Apple to turn into Dell just like Dell turned into Dell. Yes, Dell sells the most computers, but i don't want any of them.

I've got a white front panel from eBay and the thing that annoyed me the most was that the white point on the display almost NEVER matches the white of the front panel. Depending on lighting, the display is always either blue or yellow tinted.
There shouldn't be any paint on the display... You must've gotten a crappy front panel. I've had several. All had 0 display issues.

While many will disagree with my point of view, I think this is just more evidence that Apple and Google with be the 2 major players duking it out. The one that should really worry here is not Apple but RIM. On the bright side, this will just force both iOS and Android to get better and better as they compete with each other. Both platforms have come a long way I can't way for the next smackdown!
1)I think with Apple reportedly not releasing the iPhone 5 till 2012, that is a huge open door for Android and RIM to come in and grab more share/customers.
2)I don't think the iOS has come a long way...I have the 3GS model which is 3+ years old...the only difference between the 3GS and the 4 is better camera/video and Facetime. iOS has barely changed. I have NUMEROUS iOS enhancements that Apple could put into the iPhone yet they still do not exist. iPhone 3/4 is very nice, but I have to tell you that as I see more and more Androids out there, the Androids look extremely competitive if not better than iPhone.
3)Don't underestimate RIM/Blackberry. They OWN the business space. Too bad Apple has never figured out how to play/sell well to businesses otherwise iPhone would likely have killed Blackberry by now. My wife got the new Torch...although it's no iPhone, it's quite a nice device and is PAID FOR by her company like 99% of "company" phones so whatever shortcomings about Blackberry, she's not paying for it like a general consumer. My bet is that RIM will try extremely hard to make their Blackberries better with touchscreen and web surfing. But the primary reason for a BB in business is not web surfing or playing angry bird games or watching Youtube...it's email/calendar, notifications, and some business apps.

There's no doubt that Vista will be first - on track for November release....
Unfortunately, the consumer release has to wait until after the Saturnalia purchasing orgy - so some will ignore the millions of copies running at businesses and claim that Vista ships sometime in January.
ps: RC2 (build 5744) is pretty darn good - I've moved several of my systems over to it for day-to-day use. Also upgraded a couple of Media Center Editions to Vista Ultimate. Vista's MCE is a big step forward for an already impressive product.

Maybe, when you rank the individual product models. But when you rank the underlying platforms, iOS is no longer leading the pack. Android has taken over the lead and that was to be expected, because Google did the smart thing: Divide and rule. Everybody can build Android gadgets, but only Apple builds iOS devices. And the systems that everybody can use have ALWAYS dominated the market. Just remember Windows vs Mac OS or VHS vs Betamax and Video 2000.
Android is not a consistent platform. A huge chunk of that "market share" is running 1.6 and is not compatible with anything in the Market. What I said is true. What you said sounds like a desperate attempt to redefine winning.
Why does what you said matter. It has been true over a year and App sales on Android are still less then 10% of iOS.

These comparison of a single device against a loose collection of largely incompatible devices is growing tiresome.
