US-made Budwesier is foul. Though, America does not have a monopoly on horrible beer, as anyone who has had a Foster's, Carlsberg, Heineken, Tecate or Molson will attest.

Thanks for posting this. EyeTV has been able to stream recorded content for a long time, but being able to stream live TV is more useful to me. CyTV will stream it to a laptop, but it's clunky and problematic so I shelled out the $5 hoping that this works better.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. The new ipod video features a digital click wheel, does that mean the surface of the new ipod be reinforced glass that doesn't scratch unless you try really hard or is it still gonna be the carbon polymer(why do people call it carbon polymer when they know that carbon polymer is plastic, it doesn't appeal to pro macists)? Because regular use will mean an extreme amount of scratching even from the thumb. Second point, is it going to be as chunky compared to current line of ipod as the first ipod photo? Remember how it compared with the G4? (Almost twice as thick and twice as heavy)

If you need to hear my opinion on the Jewish/ Israeli Lobby; Yes, I completely agree that it is a powerful force. However, that's not focus of the story.

Do you think that the US media are hypersensitive when it comes to criticising the pro-Israeli lobby?

There can also be no question that one who reports the news needs to remain relatively objective. I could give a damn what she says in private but when one starts expressing their opinion in a profession such a journalism, you lose all credibility to report a story without undue bias.

Well, she did express it more or less in a private capacity.

Perhaps the essence of her admittedly clumsy criticism of Jewish political influence was an attempt at a level of objectivity that is lacking in the media. Whenever a person dares criticise the pro-Israel lobby, that person is pummeled by a crowd of jerking knees and cries of anti-Semitism. I'm not excusing Thomas at all, I think she went too far in her language, but I think she has a point.

I have no problem with her expressing her opinion/ point of view but with her (former) standing, she could probably wrangle a ton of op-ed space/ television interviews to voice her concerns in a tactful manner.

...unless the media are not interested in talking about that side of the story. Come to think about it, we don't hear much about it in the media, do we?....

I figured they were talking about network traffic as well. Where would they get the road traffic information from users? I'd like to see a quality turn-by-turn navigation feature become a standard offering and improved traffic info would be a nice plus.

I didn't interpret it as network traffic. What would be the purpose of "a crowd sourced traffic service"? If the goal is to provide "an improved traffic service", how does that relate to network traffic? Tell Apple which hotspots are overloaded? With what end goal?

On the other hand, I don't know how Apple could be accurately collecting vehicle traffic data without pinpointing the location of your iPhone (e.g. on a local highway) so I guess there's room for interpretation.

As for turn-by-turn GPS, I just bought Navigon and I'm quite pleased with it so far.

I concurr. Almost every concert I go to now, I see a MacBook on stage. I see mac notebooks everywhere. One thing I hate is when i see people dissuading potential buyers away from macintoshes, simply because Windows is the more common operating system, when most of the time, these are new computer buyers and wouldn't be able to use Wwindows in the first place.

Well it is an issue of Risk Manangement. Whie true most people will be better off with a Mac. If they don't know anything better, the PC seems like the safest choice, Just because the numbers show more PC are out there and if you go to CompUSA you get 6-7 iles of Windows Programs and a little corner with Mac Products (often at a higher price too  ). If they didn't like their Mac they are stuck with it. At least with the PC if it sucks you can use the programs you have on the Newer System (theroretically). It is hard to explain to them that OS X and iLife is equilvalnt to about $1000 of 3rd party software that you will need to get to match the quality, (not the crap that most PC come standard with) espectailly because all the feature seems to be there. iPhoto vs. Mr. Pic Foto softare, Mail vs. Outlook Express. But for someone new that is tough to explain. When they are computer savy enough they already have already invested into PC and PC Software so getting them to swich is hard too.

At least now with bootcamp you can go. Get a Mac if you really hate it after a few weeks we can put windows on it, and it will run that fine too.

I'd like to see a lot more weight put into iPhoto.

With the steep price declines in DSLRs, proliferation of smart phones with better cameras, etc. people are taking more photos than ever before. The result is that the photo management and editing tools that only pros used to need are needed and by more and more hobbyists and casual photographers. If they could pull in some tools from Aperture and more robust photoshop-like tools (layers, dodge and burn, spot healing brush, etc.?) it would make a lot of people happy.

As for the current feature set, it would be nice to see more powerful facial recognition (profiles, better job with babies and children).

I'd also like to see some tighter integration with Mail since family email photos all the time. Rather than just be able to right click and add the shot to iPhoto, how about the ability to create an event, label faces all in Mail and then add to iPhoto.

One of my biggest gripes though iPhoto's lack of integration with AppleTV. If I take movies on my camera or even my iPhone, it syncs to iPhoto but only the photos will sync with AppleTV. The only way to watch these movies is to render them in iMovie, Handbrake or another similar program and then add them to iTunes. What a pain!!!

Amen brother! I love iPhoto for organizing imports, but it's sooo far behind Lightroom when it comes to making your pictures really pop. I don't see Aperture as the answer here, it's too heavy to work with compared to Lightroom.
iMovie needs to be to movies what iPhoto is for pictures since more and more devices are capable of recording video. Easy importing, organizing and easy editing.

Exactly. Its called being a kid. Luckily, you'll age out of it. Until then, suck it up and get used to it.

Exactly, you're a child, a minor, a non-voter, you have no adult rights and the reason you're still at school is to learn...

If your IT admin who understand the network, administer the network and have to fix all the problems caused by students that don't know much at all, then they are well within their right (as adults, teachers, professionals) to do what they ned to to protect the investment in their infrastructure.

Consider it a learning experience, these people know more than you.

I'm sure if you ask nicely they'll give it back.

I wasn't attempting to connect to the network, no harm was being done

All the while the real Big Brother, Google, gets surprisingly little scrutiny from the American press.

Exactly. This whole thing is ridiculous. Both Google and the telecom companies track you, and probably a lot more.

I really hate my state's stupid beer laws. The cap on beer is 5%, which cuts out a lot of great beers. Thankfully, I have friends and relatives in other states where I can get said beers. :)

Horrible! I feel for you man. Why such a silly limit?

A couple of FYIs - A few people expressed interest in meeting again today at the Horseshoe. There's a "Best of Show" event that ends at 3:45, so the meet-up prolly won't happen until around 4:00.

If I make it today it will probably be on the late side. We decided to take the ferry over to Sausalito this morning.

Sounds like a plan, I'll probably see if I can make it to the Best of Show too so 4:00 seems better for today.

I would prefer to see Apple connect with an EVDO carrier... Apple Airport extreme cards with EV-DO?

Thank god they got rid of cingular, or visa versa... TOO SLOOOOW. :D

It would make no sense for Apple to go with a CDMA technology though. GSM is used by almost everyone in the world bar a few markets. With a GSM phone they have the whole European market for phones for example, with a CDMA phone they have a market limited to mainly Verizon and the few other carriers around the world who use CDMA (IIRC, some in S. Korea, some in Brazil and perhaps some other in North and South America).

Apple most likely don't want to have to make loads of different phones, so I'd expect the iPhone to be GSM Quad Band, therefore covering the largests possible market for mobile phones.

That should be "hand" as in a poker hand, not "hat." I can't even think of how "hat" would make sense. :D

Haha, darn, I thought I might be the first one to mention that. And Lion's gate "tipping off" about the itunes movie downloads... does that mean the basketball game has begun? :) I think for "tips off" to be used correctly, it needs an object noun. For instance, Lion's Gate tips off the media. The diction used here kind of confused me.

Not really CNN's falt, the story was filed by their Seattle affiliate KING.

Seattle, University of Washington, flaw in a Nike product being portrayed as an iPod flaw... I sense a pattern...

I think a study needs to be done looking into how to track people using their Zunes.

all these rumors are so sick! why should apple release two ipads in one year? that does not make any sense at all. next ipad will probably be the same like the current anyway, they'll add more memory, a faster chip and a better camera and that's it. and maybe they'll also release a third color like silver or pink. but that's it!

i don't want to hear all those rumors anymore if they are so silly. i think the blogs should not pick up every stupid rumor and blow it out of proportion.

France is the _second_ country in Europe to ban such garments. First out was Turkey in 1997.

Turkey is also the first Asian country to ban such garments. Turkey is a transcontinental Eurasian country:)

OWC did a lower quality teardown of the top of the range 27" model

To clarify, I'll wait for the "iFixit teardown" of the 27" model to make a comment. Guessing about what's underneath fuzzy shots of heat sinks isn't useful.

In any case, though, it's more to know what you're getting. Oversubscribed interfaces can be very useful - most of our connections are oversubscribed.

I'd just like to know up front whether and how the bandwidth is shared between the two TBolt ports. Apple can make it very hard to understand those details.

Nope, you'll only get a free upgrade to 10.5 if you buy a computer after they announce the release date. Last time it was two weeks I think.
Ah....Damn....But Leopard will include iLife '07 right? I hope they also add iWork '07 as a freebie along with Leopard! I would love to start using iWork, but an imminent update is holding me back from my purchase.

That makes sense, but since the 26th is a Tuesday doesn't that mean that it may ship on the day of the announcement? Don't stores usually get shipments on Tuesdays? Correct me if I'm wrong.
