Verizon already had a lot of high end android devices so maybe those customers didn't want to switch to a new platform? I know a few verizon iphone adopters that switched back to android. Lol maybe they just realized that at the end of the day all smartphones are essentially the same.

Agreed. This doesn't sound correct. I have a corporate discount and added the feature. I still have the discount.
When this initially was announced and after holding for a long time while the rep checked, ATT told me verbally that the dicounted $29.95/450 min plan would go to regular $39.95 regular price if I wanted the unlimited mobile to mobile with unlimited texting but it in fact wasn't the case. I was able to do it online. The first day or so of the promotion the site was giving me an error whenI tried to make the change but I was able to do it on day 2 or 3. I verified earlier today that my discount rate was still in tact and I had the unLim Mob to Mob.

I was wondering how you can directly transfer Loops to the Keyboard, as in having up side by side, as I cant seem to find this.

No, you are mistaken. What you are talking about here is called "retribution", which is not what justice is supposed to be about. There is more evidence to suggest that the death penalty makes things worse for everyone than when it is not employed. One major example of this might be Canada, which has quite a lot of guns, no capital punishment, and is generally a safer place to be (though I cannot vouch for iJohnHenry's neighborhood ;)).

I'm at a loss for how GV makes any difference in this scenario. If you move to another carrier, you can port your number to that carrier and not lose the number, so how exactly does GV help?
You're aware that GV is NOT a carrier service right? All it does it route calls to the carrier(s) you are using...
But to stay with the same carrier with the same number and upgrade earlier you will pay this advertised price, which just went up. My point is that in order for you to retain the number and not go on contract, GV is one of the best options. Let me fully spell out my two options, as they are right now:
1) Pay early upgrade pricing to upgrade my 16GB iPhone 3Gs to the 32 GB iPhone 4. This would cost $549 under the new pricing arrangement.
2) Transfer my number to GV. This part costs $20 once, and AT&T will give me a new number. I suppose that this may also include an activation fee, as well, so I'll give my cost with and without it. This will definitely incur an early termination fee, however, so I will add this in regardless. Then, the price to upgrade to a new phone, while still being able to use the same number would be: $299 + $20 + $175 - $5/month * 18 months = $404 without an activation fee or + $36 = $440 with the largest activation fee.
As you can see, option two is cheaper in both cases. The only difference is that you end up with a different number to call your phone directly, but I'd prefer to route my number through GV anyway, and I could give out my direct line for those that really need it (my wife) and route everything else through GV.
Here's AT&T's support section for activation fees (http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?solutionId=52268&t=solutionTab), which actually appear to favor my theory that I would NOT be charged an activation fee. But even if I did, it would be more cheaper than early upgrade pricing if, like me, you started your contract prior to June 2010 when they changed their ETF. People here seem to really be freaking out about this textarea business. Its really not that big a deal.
How many users are going to resize the textarea so large that its double or quadruple its original size? - Probably not too many and unless you have a layout that tries to deal with every edge case perfectly, your site is going to break a bit.
Now in the real world most users - if they even bother to resize at all - are going to expand it just enough to make it easier to write in, probably not making it even 1.5x original size.
In most cases your layout is not going to break if you've put any thought into it.
Finally, are we all forgetting that WebKit supports min/max-width and height? This DOES apply to textarea's so everyone can stop freaking out about users breaking their layouts. Though I must say, having used the feature it is quite handy so don't knock it until you've tried it - and I am a web designer so I do realize the havoc it can wreak.
No need for user agent sniffing. No need for Javascript hacks. A couple lines of standards compliant CSS is all thats needed.
The Safari/WebKit engineers are some very smart and talented people - that people would assume that they would go off and implement such a feature willy nilly without giving any thought to it like people are implying is an insult and plain rude.
