At first I thought you said "Pentium M 2.2 GHz," and I was like, "whoa. these people are only offering 100 bucks? It's worth like 700+ with mobo and proc." But then I saw that evil little number 4. Still, Chaintech at least makes good motherboards, and you could probably upgrade the processor on that to a faster one.

Either one will do well. Like the other poster said, once you use one for Photoshop or FCS, you won't use anything else. Good luck and have fun!

I do have an NTSC Xbox I could sell you --- but you'd have to install your own modchip, since I really don't wanna mess anything up.

I, as well, use Yahoo as my dummy account. I even use it with Mail.app. My suggestion is to configure you outgoing mail server to that of your ISP if it isn't working. I know Semo.net and Cox both have this problem of STMP outgoing mail. I have to use "mail.semo.net" for me to send my mail. But it works.

Has any one else noticed, or has it already been pointed out, that on the iCal image on the apple.com Leopard preview site
http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/ical.html
we see the iCal app open but the little black triangle under the icon in the dock is missing.
Just like the finder triangle on the MBP box.

Me again! It's this same project that is giving me trouble. It seems that the map page I am working on loads fine on Macs, but on Windows, a red x comes up where the image map should be. So, I figure it's a coding issue and try and access just the image (a jpeg) itself; works fine on Mac, error in Windows. It's uploaded to the server and everything, it just won't load. My friends with Macs all see it but on my Windows machine I get the error.
Does anyone know why this might happen?
The link to the map (with the codes) is: http://www.mariahplanet.com/ACR/Popup.htm
The link to just the image is: http://www.mariahplanet.com/ACR/ACR_updatedmap.jpg
Thanks guys!!

I went into the Irvine Spectrum store last Thursday and they had 32gigs. Picked one up on the spot. Best Buy and Radio Shack are still waiting for theirs.

i personally believe the MB Air isn't a mainstream laptop, it is a laptop light. I need a CD/DVD and BD optical drive.
The sales figures suggest it IS a mainstream laptop. Just because you need a DVD drive doesn't mean everyone in the mainstream does.
apple wont sell it to me, wants to shift people to its ecosystem. ie. get rid of optical drives, to force more people to buy content and software from apple owned stores. ie itunes and app store. So the Air is proof of Apple's future vision possibly. not really mine. yes its light, easy to carry. great! but for those of us who dont mind 5-6 pounds, give us optical drives and Blu-Ray!
Non sequitur of the month award. I get loads of non app store mac content and none of it comes on cd or DVD any more. It's all downloaded. If you want optical drives and big storage, the MacBook Pros are over there. Lots of people don't, though.
sorry... i like a NON-CLOSED ecosystem. I am not a mindless drone. i like options.
i am starting to like the idea of windows more.
It's called bootcamp and has been around for ages.

In the UK we just pay whatever phone network your on 10 (~$16 USD) and they get Apple to activate/unlock it ;)
Much better than the poor excuses for phone networks you get in the US!

CNN posted followup (http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/10/24/ipod.code.ap/index.html) to the previous news that Jon Lech Johansen ("DVD Jon") had reverse engineered Apple's FairPlay Digital Rights Management (DRM) format.
Johansen has formed a company to license the format to other companies interested in providing DRM protected files that are playable on Apple's iPod. Apple has not allowed other companies to license FairPlay, effectively blocking most companies from selling DRM protected songs that can play on the iPod.
The article states that "an unnamed client will soon use the technology so its copy-protected content will be playable on iPods". Details are not available yet.
DVD Jon had previously circumvented FairPlay's DRM (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/11/20031122001549.shtml) in and since then multiple other tools have appeared to provide similar functionality for updated versions of Quicktime/iTunes. Jon is also credited for developing an algorithm named deCSS to strip a DVD of its encryption (called Content Scramble System (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Content_Scramble_System), or CSS), hence his nickname.

I don't want one.
Me neither. I want a large capacity (100GB+) audio iPod. No movies, no photos, no games. A black and white screen and a long battery life.

should redirects be put in (I don't care for redirects myself as they just make the index page twice as imposing).
Can't you do a redirect without a category -- just so all the old links aren't broken?

Yes I would upgrade. I had the 13 inch for a week...brought it back for the 15 only because I needed a better graphics card. It is a fast little computer and I much prefered it over the 15 I have now, because of how lightweight it was. Buy somewhere with a good return policy if you aren't sure. Best Buy or some place like that. They gave me two weeks to return it for a refund. Good luck, whatever you decide. Keep us posted. :)

I had just finished dressing for work. I walked into the family room and the TV was on. On it was the fire in the first tower. I called my wife saying "Honey, there's a fire at the WTC". Just after I said that the second plane hit. I saw the fireball heading toward the cmaera and knew it was no fire, and it was no bomb. First thought: a plane hit it. I, like most, was glued to the TV for quite awhile, but the issue was this: I'm a tech director at an Illinois school district, and the cable had been down for awhile... I didn't work fast enough to get it working, so the whole school couldn't witness the horror.

Yeah makes sense. Best for them to focus on Windows Phone 7 and possibly later release an iPod Touch like device you know, sans phone. Not that I don't think it won't also probably gain disappointing market share.

Btw, why has your screenshot so many white in it?
You can screenshot a single window or dialog via CMD+SHIFT+4, then SPACEBAR, then clicking on the window/dialog.
